About the team:

Our engineers are pioneering tools and technologies to efficiently build best in class user experience across more than 10 platforms for multiple brands. We work closely with innovative design, user- experience, and user-testing teams to deliver dynamic experiences. Video is at the core of our streaming service and is supported by dedicated playback and infrastructure teams. As VRV is a multi-channel video offering, our CMS team supports both external partners and internal stakeholders end-to-end, as content is ingested and published within our applications.

Location: San Francisco

Our headquarters is located in downtown San Francisco, where our group of cross-functional experts assemble to create experiences for Crunchyroll and VRV’s passionate communities.

About the role:

As the Senior Engineering manager for CMS team you will have ownership of critical components of our service. You will directly manage a team of engineers focused on the mission of building best in class technical solutions for our rapidly growing video subscription platform. The services you would own in leading the CMS team are at the heart of our video streaming operation including a react / redux web portal, ingest engine, client facing API surface and internal API consumers of the catalog data set.

You will lead a team of engineers in supporting these critical services including designing and shaping future API direction in collaboration with stakeholders. You will work closely with the CMS product owner, code quality assurance, devops and other teams. Ellation has an aggressive roadmap for this service and we need a strong owner to help us deliver on these goals.

A day in the life of our CMS Team:

  • Hands on Engineering Management
  • Technical Vision for CMS APIs
  • Strategic planning with product ensuring key business needs are addressed while keeping tech debit in check
  • Test coverage as part of definition of done mindset and practice  
  • Management of project risks and cross team dependencies
  • Work closely with operations to build new services in coordination with our design patterns and support evaluations of new infrastructure
  • Possible travel to Moldova to coordinate with client and service team stakeholders
  • Possible blog posts, open source publishing of projects and conference presentation opportunities

About You:

  • 2+ years of management experience
  • BS or higher in Computer Science
  • 7+ years working on API’s and/or web technologies
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and networking
  • Familiarity with internet video or content management systems is a plus
  • Familiarity with MVC frameworks
  • Familiarity with code design principles, patterns, and best practices
  • Understanding of SQL and NoSQL data stores and their applications
  • Active participation in one or more open source projects is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with Go is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with React/Redux is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with AWS technologies is a strong plus
