Very interesting idea, although for now it's a little hard to browse for anime series, since steam put it together with anime style games.

I don't get all the people that don't understand...Yes paying for a subscription per month cost less than paying for one steam title..However they stated it in the beginning. Getting it from steam is the same as ownership. You can watch it as much as you want without EXPIRATION.

Also I've been a CR memeber for a really long time...There are many titles no longer available in the catalog that I do miss. If you bought it on steam. YOU STILL GET IT. So without having a wall full of BR or DVD's you have it all available to stream and watch when you want, without needing a terabyte or more storage for all your Digital Copies. Same way Steam works for games. I don't have to install all 219 games, I just install the ones I'm currently playing.

I honestly don't know if I'll ever buy an anime through steam. However as the steam box and controller are getting way better and Big Picture runs so much smoother now. I could def see it taking hold as a Full Media Center holding not only your games, but your video/anime collection

This isn't gonna be for everyone but there is crazy potential here and plenty will use it. Though It would be great if they could adjust it so that the videos don't have to be streamed and be predownloaded to watch offline. Nice addition for those with crappy internet (military housing cough cough). Download the episodes then watch (even if they auto deleted as temp files after use). Also not everyone (or everyone's parents) will shell out money for a monthly/yearly subscription to crunchyroll. However someone could save up allowance or whatever to purchase an anime they really like (and watch it over and over and over and over with no added expense). I remember that time when we lost fairy tale episodes as I was re-watching it...So sad had to find free sources for like 12 or more episodes.

Just to check.

1) Without expiration means even if CR loses the licenses to a program you will never have it removed from steam?

2) Does the 50% of steam cost still go back to Japan as with CR subs, or is valve eating that chunk instead?

I do not really understand why you guys would want to go on steam, I dont see the market there. But I could be wrong

You really dont see why the single biggest digital distribution platform in the west would be a good place to sell digital goods?

I agree with this person. Also I'm sure the anime will work just like Steam games that are no longer steam supported/outdated. I have games that are no longer are available in store to purchase (no longer have a license / distribution rights), yet I can still download and (attempt) install them, if I"m on a platform that suppports it or can work around it.

Then hook up a big tv? Or get the Steam Link and sling your steam from your computer to the TV. UPGRADE and get a Steam Controller and you can Play games and Control your steam account /computer from your couch.

I think this is pretty awesome! There are some good sales. What would be even better would be a virtual reality anime! Imagine standing in front of Sesshomaru as he tries to cut you with his claws!! Or skating with Victor! Endless possibilities.

I tried to buy Re:ZERO and test it out...
and first impression: The title of "Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-: The End of the Beginning and the Beginning of the End" while lengthy, doesn't really tell me that this is episode 1 of the series. Maybe you could consider adding "episode 1" somewhere on the title, or even just "Ep. 1"? while they seem correctly sorted in the video list with ep. 1 on top, it would make things simpler to keep track of where you at if the episode number was in the title as well. >_<;

I assume this applies to every anime series on steam atm...

i don't understand why someone who has both would ever purchase it on steam.
although there are some series i like, i think i'd much rather just buy it on BD.

Unless they become downloadable, I have trouble seeing myself interested in this service. There is a little wiggle room for appeal to work its way in with the idea of purchasing anime that are expiring on Crunchyroll's end, but not much. Also, why is the purchasable version of a show the aired censored version.

I assume they have more plans for it than the current state, but right now it seems to just be intended to sucker in consumers who don't really know about crunchyroll.
