Gainax Reveals Proposed Akubi o Suru ni wa Wake ga Aru Anime ANN News

Sudden Death / Sadon-Desu anime also not yet announced

Story of free-diving girl not yet green-lit; Sadon-Desu anime also not yet announced
Gainax revealed more about a tentative anime project titled Akubi o Suru ni wa Wake ga Aru / (There Is a Reason That We Yawn) at its booth at Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF). Gainax intends to air the anime for two cours or half a year, although Gainax producer Tomoko Saito (Medaka Box) informed ANN that the project has not been green-lit yet, and is still collecting funds. The project has been in the works for six years.

The pamphlet for the project describes the setting as Japan in 2093. A rural town that used to be the most prestigious town in the world has long since sunk 30 meters under the ocean's surface. The story is a tale of a girl who takes part in free diving (diving without the aid of equipment to breathe), and the emotional growth she experiences.

Gainax studio co-founder Hiroyuki Yamaga revealed at California's FanimeCon in 2009 that an unnamed project of the same concept was currently in production.

Saito also clarified that although Gainax displayed a poster of its Sudden Death / Sadon-Desu collaboration with manga creator Kyo Hatsuki at TAF, an anime has not been announced or green-lit.

P.A. Works to Produce Anime Based on Mystery Novel Series ANN News

Tari Tari's Masakazu Hashimoto directs 2016 "wind instrument youth mystery" anime

Kadokawa announced on Friday that P.A. Works (Shirobako, Tari Tari, Angel Beats!) is adapting Sei Hatsuno's HaruChika "wind instrument youth mystery" novel series into an anime. The HaruChika: Haruta to Chika wa Seishun Suru anime will premiere in 2016.

Masakazu Hashimoto (Tari Tari, Soul Eater Not! Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva) is directing the anime. Reiko Yoshida (Bakuman, K-ON!, Yowamushi Peda, Tamako Market) is handling the series composition, Namaniku ATK (Chaika the Coffin Princess) is in charge of the original character design, and Asako Nishida (Love Live! School idol project, Vampire Knight, Angel Links) is adapting those designs for animation.

The original novels revolve around two high school students named Haruta and Chika, who are members of a wind instrument club that is on the verge of being shut down. The two are childhood friends, and they spend their days practicing hard while also trying to recruit new members. When a certain incident happens within their school, they work together to solve it.

The main characters are:

Chika Homura, a first year high school student. She is a flute player and a member of the wind instrument club whose dream is to go to the "Koshien" of wind music competitions, the "Fumonkan." She is worried about the love triangle she is in with Haruta.

Haruta Kamijō, a first year high school student. He is Chika's childhood friend. He is a horn player who has a perfect outward appearance and a clear mind. He worries about the love triangle he is in with Chika.

Hatsuno released the first novel in the series in 2008, and Kadokawa published the fourth novel in 2012. Kadokawa plans to release a new novel titled Wakusei Karon (Planet Karon) this summer.

DISCLAIMER MAYBE FUTURE GREENLIT ??

Ojamajo Doremi Producer Wants to Make Anime of Franchise's High School Novels ANN NEWS

Also: Final volume of Ojamajo Doremi novels taking place in high school ships in December with new drama CD

Hiromi Seki — the producer for a majority of Toei's Ojamajo Doremi TV anime series, specials, and original video animations (OVAs) — revealed in an interview in the Ojamajo Doremi 18 2nd: Spring has... novel that shipped on June 2 that he wants to make an adaptation of the novel series that features the girls in high school.

He replied to a question asking about the possibility of an anime:

I want to do an anime adaptation. Man, do I want to make it. It's just that there is a certain condition for this, and if I have to be frank, that condition is sales. Volume one [of the series] sold a lot of copies, but the sales of volumes two and three fell substantially. If there aren't sales, then the higher-ups and sponsors who put money into the show won't gather. Since this is the adult world, the sales of the novels need to get into the numbers so they will say, "Well, it's selling this much, so it's OK to make an anime!" I believe that an anime adaptation will depend on everyone's support. Please cheer us on a lot!

In addition, the wrap-around jacket band around the novel revealed that Ojamajo Doremi 19, the final book in the series, will ship in Japan on December 2. A limited-edition version will come bundled with the third and final drama CD adapting the series. The cast will once again return for the drama CD, with Chiemi Chiba as Doremi, Tomoko Akiya as Hazuki, Yuki Matsuoka as Aiko, Rumi Shishido as Onpu, Nami Miyahara as Momoko, and Ikue Ohtani as Hana. The limited-edition bundle will retail for 2,680 yen (about US$22).

This Ojamajo Doremi novel series takes place during the heroines' high school days. The series began in December 2011, and currently has three volumes released. Each volume features an interview at the end with the voice actress of the character on the cover. Midori Kuriyama, a writer on the original anime, is writing the light novels, and original character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi is illustrating them.

The first Ojamajo Doremi anime series originally premiered in Japan in 1999, and 4Kids began broadcasting a heavily edited version of the series in the United States in 2005 under the title Magical DoReMi.

Locodol Gets New Sequel Original Video Anime ANN NEWS

2 new mini albums, appointment as real-life tourism concierges also announced

The cast of the Futsū no Joshikōsei ga Locodol Yattemita (Locodol or Normal High School Girls Tried Being Local Idols) anime announced on Saturday that production on a new original video anime (OVA) has been green-lit. According to the Mainichi Shimbun paper's Mantan Web site, the new OVA will be a sequel to the last year's television anime. The cast made the announcement at the "Dai-2-kai Shoka no Nagarekawa Matsuri" (2nd Early Summer Nagarekawa Festival) event.

The event also announced that two new mini albums will both go on sale on July 29. The albums will feature songs by the character Yukari. The real-life city of Nagareyama in Chiba Prefecture appointed the anime's idol group Nagarekawa Girls and its "yuru-chara" (weak character) mascot Uogokoro-kun as the city's tourism concierges.

In Kōtarō Kosugi's original manga, high school girl Nanako became her town Nagarekawa's local idol at the request of her uncle. She and her upperclassman Yukari — a girl who seems perfect but ends up being airheaded — both become idols of their provincial area. They get interviewed (by the town's shopping center), go on television (low-budget cable), and hold concerts (on the roof of the department store). The girls' salaries come from the town's taxes, and together, the two form the "Locodol" unit, Nagarekawa Girls.

Kosugi began serializing the manga in Ichijinsha's Manga 4-Koma Palette magazine in 2011, and Ichijinsha will publish the fourth compiled volume with a tentatively titled "Mirai-chan no Tanjōbi" (Mirai-chan's Birthday) drama CD in July. The manga inspired a television anime that ran from July to September last year, and an earlier OVA episode "Nagarekawa, Annai Shite Mita" (I Tried to Show You Around Nagarekawa) was bundled with the first Blu-ray and DVD on September 24. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan, as well as the earlier OVA.
