The screen will dim if you aren't touching the back touch screen for maybe 30-45 seconds. There's no option to change this, which makes it useless if you happen to use the Nyko speaker dock. It doesn't register mere pressure alone on the back as touching; you have to hold it in your hands. If you do, the screen never dims in normal use. It does this with any game; if you let go and set the vita on a bed or chair, it will dim. Some games are coded poorly in that cutscenes can trigger this effect, but I've only seen one so far that does.

The dimming is independent of the standby mode. Setting it to 30 minutes will prevent the lock screen from coming up until then, but the screen will still dim if you don't touch it no matter how long its set. The app works fine otherwise, but it would have been excellent without the auto dimming. I could watch movies from the speaker recharging stand on my desk.

Only downside is when playing videos, after a min. of no button mashing activity the backlight turns off, you you have the tap the backside of the vita to make it bright again. Other than that is works the same as the ps3 app.

Yes thats for screen time out but the ps vita will still dim the screen even though you set it to thirty minutes. It wont fully go black screen but it dims a lot and theres no setting for dim

I've been waiting forever for this but I still use my iPhone more than my Vita despite it having a glorious OLED screen and better sound. That damn dim issue and the lack of touch screen controls is a major disappointment. Waited a year for this and all it turned out to be is a lazy port of the PS3 version. Bad form CrunchyRoll, bad form.

Do you have "Show Mature Content" set in your Video Preferences here on the website (not on the Vita)? Not having it set (it isn't the default) is the most common reason for missing content on Sony and iOS devices.

Ah thank you that fixed it! Also saw there was a setting for default quality, neat!

Though its kinda odd Medaka is considered mature, season one at least was very tame, especially in comparison to muv luv and In the Darkness

Well w/e glad it's sorted, thanks again

That's standby mode. It is a built in feature of your vita and as far as I know you cannot turn that feature off (you can set it to a maximum of 10 minutes though in Settings->Power Save Settings). My guess is that since the vita uses OLEDs it is susceptible to screen burn in, so it would be unfortunate if someone turned off their auto standby mode and left their vita on accidentally and then woop there goes your beautiful OLED screen.

If you want a quick fix for it, grab a rubber band and wrap it around the two joysticks. I'm pretty sure this works from what I've read but I haven't tested it personally (nor will I for fear of forgetting and causing burn in ).

...but alas...it will dim and go to sleep while using the CR app...and with the CR PS3 app...I wish they'd fix the memory hole which causes stuttering and out of sync playback after one of two videos...
