Started off really excited by this news, but then my heart was crushed by the fact this is apparently a US only release.

Would love to see an EU app in the future, Crunchy. (:

Someone says you can also leave your finger resting against the back touchpad.

If its the same app as the Crackle app, the update might be waiting on Sony, but I agree ... if its not fixed by the time I have the funds to buy a PS Vita, it would definitely tend to sway me against. And it seems like the rest your finger against the back touchpad trick wouldn't work as well for the Vita TV.

No chance of the Vita getting on any endangered species list anytime soon, with the sales bump they've had since the PS4 came out.

the Vitas newest update now allows the system to be on for 30 minutes before going to standby mode. so I guess the update isnt as important anymore

Yay CR for Vita. Boo! It be very broken. Where to start, the sleep stupidity? Nope I think that has already been covered here in this forum. I have also experienced random crashing. And the super annoying random touch interface, sometimes touch works, mostly touch does not work. Please fix! The screen on my Vita is so much prettier than my China Android CrapTablet! Would watch more on Vita if it worked. And I guess while I am griping please work on getting sync to work better between devices! I usually watch CR on my Roku, but when I am mobile I use my iPhone, China Android CrapTablet and now the Vita, sometimes when I am at home I will watch on XboX360 or PS3 if I was playing a game on those systems. And I can say that CR does a really random job of tracking my progress across a these platforms. I am certain there are technological reasons that these different players do not synch up. Still would like them too! Please don't give up on Vita!

I would hope the Vita TV didn't have the screen cut-off code, given that it is a line powered device.

It probably would have a screen saver (like the Roku), but those don't normally engage unless the video is paused or the unit is left on a menu screen.

Oh. That's great. Now if only it were released on 3DS.
I would be set for life ;_;

Just wondering but considering how many vitas have been sold in comparison to something like the 3DS, why the Vita? Just wondering.

Per http://www.vgchartz.com/analysis/platform_totals/:

Nintendo 3DS = 43.5 million
Vita = 7.76 million

Although CR has never confirmed nor denied (and I don't expect them to), I suspect that putting out a Vita app was a condition of getting on the PS3.

Aside from the possibility that Nintendo isn't as receptive to third party video apps as some would like to believe, there is also the fact that both screens on the 3DS have a vertical resolution of only 240 pixels, while the Vita has a 960x544 screen.

Further hampering the 3DS for modern anime is the fact that even the top screen is a 15:9 aspect ration, not the 16:9 of the Vita or modern anime. This means that one would have black bars cutting into the already low 240 pixel vertical resolution for most shows.

There is also a considerable deficit in the other hardware specs of the 3DS vs. the Vita:

Unless the 3DS GPU lacks hardware h.264 decoding, the hardware spec on the it (aside from the screen) that would most likely make a video app difficult is the meager amount of RAM.

I've seen indications on various 3DS message forums that that it does indeed lack that hardware ... that the Pica200 GPU does not have hardware H.264 nor programmable pixel shaders to implement it. Its more a Video MPEG1/MPEG2 kind of box.
