Strike Witches: 501 Butai Hasshinshimasu! (Strike Witches 501st Unit, Taking Off!) EP # 5 “501st, Time For a Haircut?”

I have come to the conclusion that figthing Neuroi is much safer than daily life at the base

Especially with these 3 around

Episode 6

Fighting Neurois is quite a stressful job, so everybody is kicking back as if there's nothing wrong. Francesca goes missing, and a sleeping Sanya is called on to find her, who just so happens to be hiding in Shirley's room. She has a cavity and is trying to avoid getting it pulled out, but that wasn't really a cavity. It's quite a stressful life, but for Francesca that only added even more stress to it.

Can anyone explain where the "fear Lynette" joke is coming from? Am I just totally spacing on an aspect of her character from the main series? Or did they just invent it so she'd have some defining trait not related to Yoshika's love of her boobs?

A guess / she is based on Billy Bishop a WW 1 ace with the top and many awards

https://worldwitches.fandom.com/wiki/Lynette_Bishop

William Avery Bishop, VC, CB, DSO & Bar, MC, DFC, ED (8 February 1894 – 11 September 1956) was a Canadian flying ace of the First World War.

He was officially credited with 72 victories, making him the top Canadian and British Empire ace of the war. He was an Air Marshal and a Victoria Cross recipient.

During the Second World War, Bishop was instrumental in setting up and promoting the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan.

Lynne's mother and sister both Strike Witches

Minnie Bishop is a Britannian veteran witch of the first Neuroi War. Loving mother to Lynne, Wilma and a passel of other offspring.

https://worldwitches.fandom.com/wiki/Minnie_Bishop

Wilma Bishop is a witch of the Isle of Wight Detachment Group, originating from Britannia and originally attached with the Faraway Land Air Force. She is the older sister of Lynette Bishop from the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, and the daughter of the veteran of the First Neuroi War Minnie Bishop.

She is a sharpshooter like Lynne

https://worldwitches.fandom.com/wiki/Wilma_Bishop

She serves as the squadron's sharpshooter and possesses the ability to control the flight of projectiles to a limited extent. It would also appear she can charge magical energy into the shots to increase their effectiveness. This power, Ballistic Stabilizationallow her to affect bullets and other objects thrown in flight. Classified in the Telekinesis lineage. Being the sibling of Lynne, she has the same magic ability than her, albeit, she can use it with much greater prowess.

Lynne's Abilities

Lynette serves as the squadron's sharpshooter and possesses the ability to control the flight of projectiles to a limited extent. It would also appear she can charge magical energy into the shots to increase their effectiveness. These powers Ballistic Stabilization and Grant Magic Power allow her to affect bullets and other objects thrown in flight. Classified in the Telekinesis lineage.

For some veterans's words, she has the makings to become a good Commander, with her ability to keep an eye on the whole situation from the rear, and has a good sense of grasping the whole picture'

Episode 7

Time for Setsubun, and that means lots of throwing beans to celebrate a Fuso tradition. And she gets sent a bunch of mochi that ends up molded after spending two months at sea, but they still eat them anyway after shaving the mold off the surface. And then it's photo time where using an old-school film camera they take pictures, but they mostly catch their busts. Pretty silly stuff once again, and Sanya is quite popular there seeing that Eila might not be alone for her affection.

More comedy fun as always. It's always fun to see Elia riled up.

Side note, I feel bad for Perrinu fans. She's barely in this series.

Agreed. I wonder if they had a scheduling issue with her VA?

I still don't get the "be afraid of Lynnette" vibe but I'll roll with it.

Episode 8

And here is a hot springs episode. Every show that relies on fanservice has one and of course, there are plenty of of antics. And while waiting for the Neuroi to strike at night, everybody is disappointed when they don't come. And here comes Marseille from Africa, but everybody is too sleep-deprived to listen to her. Marseille sure did make her presence known.

I'm really enjoying this take on the series. It's reminding me of the original with the way events in this series are situated within/around that season's events. Wonder how the episodes work out chronologically between the two series?

Though I like the character designs I do find myself wishing they'd used the designs in the OP. OR used the designs from the show for the OP. Honestly it's really my only significant complaint.

Side note: Of all the endings thus far Shirley's VA has been my favourite. (Though Sanya takes a close second.)

Episode 9

It’s another one of those episodes with a perceived weight problem as Yoshika has lost her ability to fly. Jumping to conclusions, she thinks that the problem is that she has been packing on the pounds eating what everybody else doesn’t eat not wanting to waste food, but that’s not the problem at all. After some crazy talk and stuff, the real reason is that her magical power is way over 9000 that her striker unit can’t keep up with it, so that needs to be fixed, not her body weight. And then there’s a fire place where the girls could certainly use seeing how much snow has piled up, all while they aren’t exactly dressed to stay warm in the winter save for Eila and Sanya. Quite a funny episode that was going to show what happens when jumping to conclusions so quickly.

Episode 10

Some of those witches don’t want to get paid for work they are not doing seeing that the Neurois haven’t been attacking. And those witches need a better jeep seeing that the steering wheel came right off. And then the witches are trying to find different ways to cool down. Erica’s wind magic sure came in handy, all while some are taking a dip, but lighting candles to tell ghost stories, well that was a bad idea.
