Synopsis

Neo Tokyo, the year G.C. (Galaxy Century) 0051, which marks a half century since first contact was made. Humans have obtained super light-speed navigation technology and formed a commonwealth of planets with aliens. A streak of bad luck is continuing for self-proclaimed freelance reportage writer Robby Yarge, who is around 30 years old. He fails at work, so his contract is cut. His girlfriend leaves him, he nearly dies in a traffic accident, and debt collectors come after him.

One day, a bag snatcher steals Robby's bag, and a young man helps him. Hatchi Kita, an 18-year-old part-time worker, catches the criminal and returns Robby's bag. Robby offers him his gratitude and a meal in return. The pair discover they are complete opposites and soon part ways.

However, Hatchi turns up again in Robby's life as a debt collector. Hatchi explains that it's his part-time job working for the loan shark Yan. A cat-and-mouse chase begins, and Yan's Finance president Yan takes his subordinates Aro and Gra along for the ride. Robby manages to elude Hatchi and escape to space while shaking off Yan's group. Robby thinks of escaping to Isekandar, a distant and legendary planet in the Milky Way that is said to bring happiness to those who go there. Though Robby thought he had escaped to space alone, he discovers Hatchi inside his spaceship. The two decide to travel across the galaxy together in search of Isekandar.

Saw it on TV.

I don't think the show is meant to be taken too seriously. Kinda reminds me of Space Dandy somewhat with how silly it is. Interested to see how far they'll focus on the world fiction though as that actually seems kinda interesting.

The first episode is now up on Funimation:

Episode 1

That was just one crazy adventure there as Robby sure got the lucky break he needed. He was living a pretty tough life, but now he's venturing into outer space, all while accompanied by Hatchi, and a rabbit. There's just no story whatsoever, but it was designed to be a parody of sorts, especially that mecha part there at the end. It was alright here as being animated by a no-name studio, I wasn't expecting much out of it.

can be streamed on Hulu for those who have it. my first impression, other than trying to figure out how to endure the main character's voice, being stuck with another one of those, I'll just have to endure it. if I survived Black Clover... it's not all that bad, those aliens/creatures/things were copies from other things that's for sure. not bad over all, feels too similar to modern space things, but why not.

Fun until it turned into a lame CGI Mecha show at the end.

RobiHachi EP # 1 Traveling Companions; Journey to the Star

Dont take this seriously a parody of older anmie

I am ROFL with this throwback anime that is so colorfull kinda of a cross between SPace Dandy and Gundham in fact Director Shinji Takamatsu worked on a lot of Gundham anime im fact a o 90's anime like Patlabor / Outlaw Star / Dirty Pair

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinji_Takamatsu#Director

Studio Comet also did a lot of 90' 2000 anime like Intial D ? SDchool Rumble / Peach Girl

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_Comet#Productions

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_Comet#Productions

We have the most mismatchedduo in Robby Yarge / Hatchi Kita

And all the great tropes from early anime

Shinji Takamatsu is directing this. He was the director for the first 105 episodes of Gintama. Also, there's quite a few Gintama seiyuu in this. I'll check it out. It's not worth buying a Funimation subscription for one anime, so I'll just watch it with ads.

Episode 2

And off to space go Robby and Hatchi, and those two venture through a lot of crazy stuff before arriving at Mars, a planet occupied by octopus aliens. After chowing down on takoyaki and Robby wasting away with those octopus chicks in a night club, Hatchi finds out the shocking truth that those octopus people are just humans wearing costumes. That chick's father is behind this whole scam of turning Mars into an octopus-filled tourist attraction, but Robby tells them that it's better to just be themselves. That was just weird seeing everything going down.

Ian Sinclair has to voice Robby in the dub...I mean, who else would do it?

Just watched the first episode. I'm really liking Nakai's (Robby) and Sakaguchi's (JPS-19) characters.

It started off slow but improved later on in the episode. Looking forward to the antics between Robby and Hatchi. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Yang.

RobiHachi EP # 2 Truth Found From an Octopus

This a very funny under the radar homage spoof comedy such as Haiyore! Nyaruko-san (Nyaruko: Crawling With Love!) / Space dandy / Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt / Sabagebu! / and of course the standard I use Excel Saga

I am not going to spoil so viewers can dcicde to watch if on the fence / I will spoil later EPS

The homage props are over the place From EP1 the poster is a homage to Texaco Sky Chief

This anime is crazy as Robby The Upper half says he is more important than Hachi the lower half JPS-19 says quit fooing and get their sspaceship frre from Yang Their robt is about to fire so Yang leaves buts it just light The duo grab on the freed ship and warp away

Yang thinks he knows where they went to Haccone but Robbys ship runs out of fuel and drops from warp and are by Mars as Yang flys by w/o knowing

Robby nots too keen on landing though as Martains are Octopuses oh so he says from the internet Hachi argues that is a work of fiction from H.G. Wella ( Nice Homage )

Robby was right ( another throwback an attendant from the old days checking everything)

They go into town and Hachi wants ( Takoyaki err Octopus )

I am ROFL Yangs ship is a Shachihoko

The play on words Planet Haccone ( Hakone atown known for its Hot Springs ) as Yang wants to visit the Hot Springs

Robby goes to a club for hot Octopus girls Hachi is getting upset and discovers the Martians are humans and gets taken away but likes it

The deal humans terraformed the planet and the Martians wore suits that kinda look like Octopus so they used it for touism

Hachi is forced to a commercial by the mayor who is the father of Robbys date but she says the whole planet is lie and sham

BTW she is a knockout so they both plan to expose the lie

BTW Robby's hangout room is a cross of Space Dandy meets Happy Days BTW the poster on the wall "Old School "is brilliant prop wrok

Yangs crew gets a letdown when Yang discovers Robby was on Mars and turns around

Meanwhile Hachi founds video of "Galaxy Traveler Hizakuriger " ( The ships mech ) OMG Hachi talks about" cel animation method"

Oh it's B&W

Now the ED makes sense a nod to Disco ( there's a70's poster in Robby's den) and Space Dandy

Ending Theme:
"Dancing to Night ~Kimi e no Saitan Warp Kōro~" (The Shortest Warp Route to You) by Subaru Kimura ( Allo ) Shinosuke Tokudome( Gras ) & Tomokazu Sugita ( Yang )

Oh wow, I'm happy that when I decided to put my Hulu subscription to use, this was the show I picked out of their simulcast selection. It's a real mood lifter. : D
