The first episode is now up on Crunchyroll: https://www.crunchyroll.com/cinderella-nine/episode-1-play-ball-782991

Episode 1

And it starts with a girls baseball team being built from the ground-up led by Arihara. So far, the club has four members that includes a former basketball player who just didn't like the game in Nozaki, and a total beginner in Ukita. These girls have quite a lot to learn, but at least they are having fun with it, which is the important part at this juncture. But just as the girls got their motivation going, they get slammed with some bad news in that they can't use the field to practice. It's off to an alright start here as while I didn't expect much seeing that this is to market a mobile game, it's holding enough of my interest.

So with that, spring is loaded with baseball shows with Ace of the Diamond, Mix, and now this show. After all, spring is when baseball season begins.

I wasn't really planning to watch this one but it was up and I was having lunch so figured why not. It wasn't that bad. I really liked they played with the kids. It made the entry of the new girls feel more natural. There's something about playing a game with kids you can't help but get swept up in their enthusiasm.

Hmm, not as bad as I thought it would be from the pic. I still really don't like that the girls are sooo cute if this is about girls doing sports and not just CGDCT in the same way you'd have an anime about boys doing sports. Just a tad too much of the cute and girlish for a sports anime, if that's what it is. And I hope that the won't have the girls running in that stupid legs out manner. So very few do in reality, most run quite normally, just not very well or for very long if out of shape.

What I did like was the plot elements. It had all the plot elements of a good sports anime, or at least seemed to promise them. The challenge of building a team from scratch, having to establish a new club, bringing new team members together, and of course improving at the sport. As long as they deliver on plot I'll probably keep watching.

Since I will never get an anime about cricket, I'll watch this instead.

Princess 9, Taisho Baseball Girls, and now this. It seems they try this anime theme every few years. When are they going to do one for Softball? Japan has a national team that gives the Americans a run for their money during the Olympics.

Over all it's gotten on to a good start as club building storylines are usually pretty interesting. When it could get silly is when they look for teams to play.

I’m pretty happy this season is giving me some Baseball anime to watch. I’m going to have to dedicate several weekends to catch up on Ace of Diamond. Mix started out pretty good, but Cinderella Nine kind of surprised me in the best way.

It’s like they took A League of their Own + Bad News Bears + the Sandlot series and made it into an anime. I just have a feeling that this series will be one of my favorites this Spring with that beginning sequence showing a preview of how impressive the team will look in the future.

The beginning follows the typical school club set-up seen in other anime, with the main character having a passion in a particular hobby and looking to recruit people for the cause. You have a main character in Tsubasa who seems to know her way around the diamond. I'll be interested to see her backstory especially concerning that picture shown in the ED.

It introduced a few more characters and it looks to me like Yuuki is going to play a prominent role on the team. Her character building started right away on this episode learning to play the game and with a team again. Looks like Tomoe also needs to learn a thing or two.

This series is based on a mobile game. I know it's not going to get a lot of attention or much praise for its quality... but this niche theme is right up my alley and it's a show I won't put much stock in things like animation and such. Based on my first impressions though, it's not bad looking. The character designs are fine, the music hints at a little drama further down the road, and the art design is nice and calming. Story will most likely be the typical underdog squad working its way towards winning a championship. As Run with the Wind has taught, it's not about the results, it's about the journey and everything that goes into self-improvement.

I'm excited to see everything else this show has to offer. It's also kind of nice to drop in a wholesome series like this to balance some of the ecchi stuff this season.

And if Rigahama High needs a few more members for their squad, I would recommend this person for the job:

And this character from one of my favorite episodes from the S&M season of Pokemon:

I thought the same thing, cute girls doing sports things. Way less drama than the typical sports anime, and more personal angst than the typical cgdct anime. The pace borders on being listless, but I'm kind of curious to see how it strikes the balance of juggling the two genres.

Being a anime adaptation of a mobile game, it actually surprised me.

I am not really a fan of sport themed anime, but I quite enjoy the first episode for it builds up and how the girls get into baseball. I will probably stick around and see how this goes.

That was pretty fun. I'm always in a sports anime mood. Sadly I'm not caught up with Ace of Diamond so currently I won't be watching the new season. So this will take it's place. While my expectations aren't the highest, maybe this will be a surprise. We already got 4 members so only 5 to go. Hopefully we'll get some games played and I actually like that the MC isn't the pitcher. Good start and let's see what happens from here.

Ep 1

Not as bad as I was expecting. It gave me Love Live vibes in a way. The girls are cute but I'm hoping the baseball itself takes priority. It does seem like the show is setting up a lot of the similar beats you would expect from a sports anime, so I'm not too worried.

Ukita isn't very talented yet, but I can admire wanting to pursue something you are interested in despite being terrible at it. Nozaki has some skill. I like how she ran to first base carrying the bat the entire time. Totally something I would do.

Episode 2

And now, the girls need to find a place to practice as there just isn't a suitable place at school to do so. As for the next member, they are looking to bring in Suzuki, whose older brother plays baseball for an elite college team. So after talking with their club moderator, they find a place to practice in a field that hasn't been used for years, and because of that it requires a lot of work. It just so happens to be the same field that Suzuki's brother used to play games at, and that got her to remember how much she was into the sport. It took awhile, but there was never any doubt that Suzuki had a passion for the game that she thought was buried in the past.

Well I'm sure she'll enjoy baseball more this time than when she was young.

She joined the team pretty quick, all well that ends well.
