The situation with disabling the private messages can really turn out to put the end of the glitchy period for Crunchyroll.

I doubt it...new episodes are still failing to be pushed to my que and the updated shows section.

We're coming up on 2 weeks and PMs are still not working.

Of course Funimation's forums have been completely broken for a week....and their site has been a buggy mess for quite a while too.

We are paying money for these services, and they don't even bother fixing their bugs.

I pay good money to this website. The faint replies the mods have given us all really irritates me.

I suggest we organize a strike against the company at this point.

If thousands, or even hundreds, of customers all agreed to cancel our contracts with Crunchyroll if they fail to fix these minor and glitchy issues, they might not continue to hire idiots to leave behind their screens. Leaving us with these half hearted "ya we know we're working on it" replies, ignoring our concerns, and buying themselves more time is despicable.

They get make MORE than enough money off of us to sort this all out, or hire people that can.

Honestly, I miss the days when cr was an illegal site. The forums felt much more fun back then + crunchyland and other flash games. Anyways, I think I'll try contacting them, too.

Was run by actual anime fans back then. Now it's run by a corporation more interested in the bottom line, and there are a lot fewer true anime fans who care about the users working for them.

Forums are still popular: Reddit is one of the biggest sites on the internet after all. No, the decline on Crunchyroll came about when they started showing just Anime and Manga topics on the front page; when they stopped fixing irritating bugs; and, most of all, when they stopped improving the site and putting all their tech dollars into VRV. I joined in 2011, and the site looks the same now in 2019 as it did back then. The only new feature I can think of is the HTML5 player and that took years to arrive.

Crunchyroll could be revitalized easily:
0. Make it company policy for management to communicate site changes and problems to users.
1. Fix the bugs. Seriously, some of these things have been a problem for YEARS. A Free Code Camp rando could have fixed PMs by now.
2. Re-upload videos with a higher bit rate. Even at 1080p, the quality here is much lower than Netflix or HiDive.
3. Create a new code of conduct to handle the weird shit that were making the forums so toxic when they were active.
4. Hire competent designers and programmers to put together a new forum design.
5. Roll out the new design, complete with a large team of moderators to keep the forums mostly clean.
6. Re-upload videos with a higher bit rate.

Does management think users will feel like subscribing to VRV when they aren't happy with Crunchyroll? They don't fix bugs, they don't update the site, they lowered video quality, and they don't communicate with users. What part of that is supposed to make users feel good about subscribing to another service made by the same company? Resurrect Crunchyroll, build good will with current customers, attract new customers, and THEN point them in the direction of VRV.

The only way this downtime makes sense to me is if they are refactoring the code base or making serious site-wide improvements. I hope that's what it is...

This, and deal with perverts and bots. Unfortunately, site is full of them. 500 point minimum will help with them, though.

Wow, you summed up everything really well about what needs to be fixed.

The past few weeks/months has been most glitchy state I've seen on this site. Really hope they fix the PM system back. Is it very difficult to fix?

They've replied to me but it was just one of those automated ones. Hope they'd fix this soon. Two of my buddies converse with me specifically through PM and all...

Crunchyroll should have stayed a pirate site. At least the site administrators gave a damn because they were passionate about the anime and the western fandom. That's why a reputable pirate sites are better. They don't work for profit, but for passion.

I support anime more through my Amazon purchases. Crunchyroll isn't providing the service I paid for. Why support this?

I too can not access my inbox. And another bug is if you start a new episode of some anime and pause right away to do something real quick and then you come back... the show has started playing on its own! You can rewind to the start but this just another feature I'm reporting.

Let us be patient. Crunchyroll has to look after fifty million registered users, approximately.
I believe they do what they can do.

We've been patient for a long time. Crunchyroll have still not fixed the site. In fact, it's gradually becoming worse.

The number of users may be irrelevant depending on the issue. When it is something that concerns a function of the site itself, it is an issue on the server's side, which once rectified, would alleviate much of our issues. In any case, you don't have any evidence or signs to suggest the idea we should place our faith in Crunchyroll, yet those who are upset often have multiple reasons to believe they aren't doing their best.

This includes the recent purchase of Crunchyroll by Ellation to add to the VRV site, run by a much larger corporate entity, and the outsourcing of website developers to Moldova, one of the nations with the lowest minimum wage in the world.

Happiness shouldn't be something we have to reach so hard for, nor is it a requirement at all times. Any positivity here is imagined on your part or meaninglessly glorified. Unhappiness is an unpleasant feeling, but that doesn't mean we should ignore it in lieu of forced happiness as much as we should not prolong this state of misery.

It is what it is, and in the end, people like myself will likely just accept it and move on. Till then, the lack of a response is concerning.

They don't have to look after 50 million users, they just have to look after and maintain their website. They can't even do that right.

You should check out all the updates and glitch fixes they are putting out for their DanMachi game and you will see where their focus is. $$$$

The squeaky wheel get the grease. Staying positive won't fix the site, giving these fools hell will.
