I'd guess that the art is just essentially a Christmas card from Saburo Uta and that it may not have anything to do with citrus+ specifically. But who knows. At least we won't have to wait too much longer to find out.

citrus+ is now available and, huh, well that was a bit of a surprise. It's specifically marked as being a spin-off and yet it seems like it's essentially just picking the story up right from just after the proposal but before the wedding. On the upside that means we probably will be getting to see all of those meetings and moments that were teased. On the downside I was sort of expecting something a little more out there and I'm not completely sure why the author chose to do it this way at all.

Still, an excellent first chapter and I'm so happy to be in the Citrus world again. Oh, for those who whine about Mei not showing enough emotion, she probably showed more emotion in this chapter than she did in the entire Citrus series so

Often when a series comes to an end its' not actually the author who gets to decide it. My guess is the reason the ending of the original series seemed so rushed is because outside forces such as issues with her publicist or her contract coming to term left Uta with less remaining issues than she required to land the ending smoothly. Now that she has a shiny new spin off series and a fresh contract she is picking up the story where she feels it needs to be filled out.

Saburouta has just announced that there will be no new chapter of citrus+ in this months issue of Yuri Hime. No idea of any specific reason for the missed release but she said it's at her own choice and that the series will continue as normal next month.

At first she wasreleasing a chapter over 2 months, maybe she just want to have more free time to write a better story.

Finally finished the manga... Obviously had to read it after watching the anime

Anyway, it was thoroughly enjoyable as a guilty pleasure, even though at times I felt that Saburouta couldn't really advance the plot without using silly and overused plot devices. All those side characters which were introduced just to create "drama", ugh... Oh well.

The art was pretty much the best I've ever seen in a manga (minus some weirdly sweaty and pornish snuggling scenes), and there were so many scenes I wouldn't mind having as a full-sized poster. Mei in the wedding dress crying Why do you do this, Saburouta :D

All in all, I'm so happy that Yuzu and Mei finally got together. The series became so much better after Mei and Yuzu started dating, so I'd really want to see another season of the anime as well. Actually, I was a bit put off by the wedding thing - unfortunately that's not legal in Japan yet, and it being in the series kinda put it too much into the fantasy territory. Maybe one day... Sigh. Not to say that I didn't enjoy the wedding extra - who could resist something oozing with such cuteness?

For me, Yuzu (and Matsuri!) really carried the series. Yuzu is like a manic pixie dream girl who gets a happy ending - what's not to like about it?

Chapter 2 of citrus+ is now out.. and it started so well too. The first half was pretty much perfect. The second half was.. ugh, they're really going there, aren't they?

The thing is, Haru-Yuzu is actually even more completely pointless now than it ever would have been before. Unless we're in some sort of alternate timeline with citrus+, we now how it's going to end. Yuzu and Mei are going to end up marrying in an apparently happy ceremony. At this point even teasing Haru-Yuzu is really just the most pointless drama that could have been written, not to mention that it actively hurts Haru's character because it just writes her into a corner.

Well despite the potential issues gnawing at the fringes, the series has largely gotten itself back on track after it's earlier stumble. I'm really interested in where things are going now with Yuzu attempting to change herself and Mei actually trying, even if a little behind the scenes, to get the relationship moving forward. Really solid chapter this month.
