I have never been to a cosplay event but I once tried to make a futuristic looking fake gun with random stuff I had laying around waiting to be thrown out. I then put a reflector on the end and took a picture of me posing with it on my phone.

Look how cool I just made myself tonight. No costume so I used stuff from around the house.

*looking at this now, it’s kinda embarrassing I even did this but still felt good using the sheet like I did and moving around with it*

I love cosplay, my friend did it and I always helped her. Then I decided to try it myself and did my first cosplay on Shiro from deadman wonderland. I still remember how many problems I had with her costume and hairstyle. I saw many people online who make her cosplay on a naked body, but I'm very shy and we ordered a white costume and then draw on it. Her wig I styled myself, I cut hair and then use flat iron and gel to make it stable. Remington iron that I bought for this cosplay I still use sometimes for daily life. You can read a review on it https://mystraightener.com/remington-shine-therapy-flat-ron/. I didn't do so many cosplays after, but I find it very fun, especially when you do it and prepare for it with friends.

I'm really wanting to get into cosplay but don't really know how to start. I really want to do Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail but all costumes online don't seem very great and I don't know how to diy anything. How did yall get started on this?

My first cosplay I did today! I’m at work though so I wasn’t allowed to wear my more traditional looking shoes.

Wasn't so bad was it? Saw that you said you wanted to cosplay a few days ago and now you did. Keep it up

Thank you Zenpai7! Next time I’m going to try actually making my own, although I’ve never sewed before so we will see how that goes haha

It's so hard to figure out who to cosplay, there are way too many characters that need to be done!

I love cosplay; I wish I had more opportunities to do so, and more funds to make the ones I have complete. My favorite is my Cardcaptor Sakura cosplay; I'd like to get a new staff and specific shoes for it. I also have Madoka, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Mercury; I find that the skirts for the Sailor Guardians are just not long enough and end up stitching more material to them to extend them. I actually do quite a bit of stitching for modifications and just making my own ideas. Cosplay makes my life that much more interesting and I want to keep at it for as long as I can; no one's going to tell me that I'm too old, that I shouldn't dress up or that I can't be the characters I love.

I do cosplay as well! Mainly Johnny Depp characters, even though I'm a girl. Crossplay is awesome! Your cosplay looks great, by the way.

I love people cosplaying! I’ve found with uploading photos on Crunchyroll if the photo uploads to be sideways going back to the original file and cropping it some then re-uploading it fixes the problem. I have only used my iPhone on Crunchyroll, this may just apply to that use.

Seeing cosplayers I have also seen them make their own weapons! 19 years I owned a broadsword bought inexpensively at a store in my younger days. Recently I started swinging it around practicing moves I’ve seen. The grip started coming undone and I tried rewrapping it but it ripped. Under was painted wood that I knew would flake off in time. I had a pvc pipe that I already used for something else and cut to size, trimmed it to fit, making a over lay on top of the old handle. The end cap makes the pipe solid to the rest of the sword. I was impressed at how it turned out along with the feeling of extra strength the sword now had. After the fact I thought of ways for better improvement but this works for now.
